The Overview
The Overview is an introductory page which briefly explains the structure of the lessons and what each section of the learning unit is about. This includes lesson prerequisites, templates needed, a brief task description and software being used in each activity.

Learning Outcomes Grid
These Learning Outcomes correspond to the Current National Curriculum Statement. We do not indicate every learning outcome being addressed in each activity, only the outcomes which we feel are most prominent in the activities.

Structure of lessons
The Structure of Lessons page is designed to ease the task of planning for educators. This page can be printed and included in the educator's planning file. It contains details of each step of the lessons as well as Learning Outcomes and activity ideas outside the ICT room. If a school has a dedicated ICT educator, this can be printed out for the class educators' record as a means of keeping the class educator informed about what lessons will be completed in the IT Centre.

Skills Development and Assessment Matrix
This matrix (in English or Afrikaans) can be used as a means of assessing the skills and outcomes being developed in the lessons. Should the educator want to assess skills and outcomes, a suggested assessment criteria is included at the bottom of the grid. An appropriate number can be inserted next to the skill being assessed. The assessment criteria can be adapted to meet your school's needs.

The most prominent learning outcomes and assessment standards have been listed should the educator wish to assess them. The Assessment Standards are indicated underneath each learning outcome. Concepts and skills as well as the ICT skills and procedures being developed in the unit are listed should the educator wish to assess them. Skills covered in each of the activities are indicated by bullets.

This document can be photocopied (or edited in MS Word format) for each learner and included in their ICT Portfolio or with the end of term progress report.

The Integrated Lesson
The Integrated Lesson gets its name from its desired purpose - to integrate ICT into the curriculum. It has been colour coded for ease of reference. Each lesson follows a suggested sequence but can be adapted to suit the work style of the educator.

An example of a possible outcome of the lesson or what the document could look like is included in the form of a full page visual at the end of each activity. Please note that these are only examples of possible outcomes - your learners should create their own unique individualised outcome! Ideally a copy should be either given to the class educator for decoration purposes or a copy displayed in the IT Centre.

The Optional Extension activity is aimed at developing more advanced cognitive and ICT skills for more advanced learners or classes. This level will vary from school to school. It has been colour coded green for ease of reference. An example of a possible outcome of the lesson or what the document could look like is included in the form of a full page visual at the end of the Optional Extension activity.
